The Mills County Child Welfare Board was established by the Mills County Commissioners Court in 2019 with the purpose of developing a program for response to and the protection and care of dependent, abused, or neglected children of Mills County.

The Board exists to perform activities for the awareness and prevention of child abuse and neglect. We coordinate with the community and other organizations to benefit children and families in need of financial assistance or other forms of support. Most counties in Texas have a Child Welfare Board. Our Board believes that children grow and thrive best when they are surrounded by people who reach out and offer aid. Mills County is a community that cares. Children who are being cared for in kinship placements or by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services receive birthday, back-to-school, and Christmas gifts from the Board.

Anyone can contact us if they know of a family or children who need help. Referrals are handled with the utmost anonymity and respect.

The Mills County Child Welfare Board meets once a month to discuss special projects, finances, needs for individual children and how we can assist them. Meetings are held at the Graves Scout Building in Goldthwaite, Texas.
